Podere San Niccola with its Main House, il Casale is the guardian of the extraordinary history of a period dwelling that, after years of neglect, has been given new life in harmony with the precious territory that surrounds it.
It dates back to the 19th century, to 1832, and was first restored and extended in 1936 as shown by the date engraved in the stone of the main facade. After a long, extensive renovation ensuring the same ancient charm of the original architectural elements was conserved, the owner has now managed to create a charming environment with a number of apartments where guests are welcomed in comfortable and spacious accommodation.
“You enter the house from the garden where the olive trees embrace you with the stern and welcoming frown of time immemorial. The first sensation is the perfume of the Mediterranean scrub mixed with the aroma of coffee in the large kitchen that welcomes guests in the cool and refreshing shade. The taste of time and the good taste for beautiful things, for colours and objects collected and expertly arranged, ready to offer all the pleasure of rest. The large lounge overlooks the spacious portico where you can enjoy the endless view of the bay extending from the island of Elba as far as the Piombino skyline. The large antique wooden table awaits the diners offering them the distinctive flavours of Tuscan cuisine, home-made oil and wine. And finally the large airy rooms on the upper floors feel the evening breeze and carry the gaze to the sun as it dips into the colourful sea … “
